I ♥ My Hair

My hair… I love it!  I loved it when I was a little girl.  I loved it when I was relaxed.  I loved it when I went natural for the first time (in the ’90s).  And, can I say that I love it now?  Well, I do.  Even when it’s misbehaving, I simply love it through to better behavior.  Going natural for me wasn’t traumatic.  I was ready.  I decided to BC (big chop) instead of transitioning.  At the time I was in the gym 5x per week, so having short hair worked for me and my fitness goals.

I have BC’d about 3 times now.  The last time I chopped all of my hair off, I did it for very different reasons than the first two times.  This time I did it for my girls.  I wanted them to love themselves as they are but I wasn’t truly showing them how to do that.  I was straightening my hair — and they began to question me about it and ask to have their hair long and straight… like what they were seeing on television.  As I’ve stated before, I love my hair and I needed to show them just how good loving your hair can be.  The last time I cut my hair was April 2012, here:

And here is where I am today…

The journey to today’s length has been part frustrating (because I have seen so many cute styles, but didn’t have the length to pull them off), and part amazing.  I am still amazed at how much my hair grew in about a year’s time.  One day I’ll post about the effects of my diet on my hair growth.

Wherever you are in your journey, love the moment.  Love your hair through the good times and not-so-good times.  It’s all part of the process my lovies!
